Gaining weight is by far the #1 thing that scares people and therefore blocks them from taking those necessary steps towards full recovery.
I myself resisted recovery for many years because I could not come to terms with seeing my body change and “losing” my “athletic” body. I would come up with a mired of (unrealistic) awful things that would happen to me when I lost my thigh gap… sigh.
I put my thoughts BEFORE gaining weight next to my thoughts/the reality of what happened AFTER I gained weight in the table below.
None of my previous fears of what weight gain would do to me came true. In fact I found that there were so many benefits to weight gain that I was very frustrated that I did not take the plunge and gain weight sooner.
